Which is why the prawns are not on his share.

Example data. Your bills stay private to your group.

Four steps, whatever you are splitting

The complexity lives inside the system, not in your way.

  1. Step 1

    Start a group

A flat, a trip, a dinner, or just you and one friend. Name it, add who is in it, and share the link on WhatsApp. No signup needed to try it.

  2. Step 2

    Add or scan expenses

Type an amount in under fifteen seconds, or photograph the bill and let us pull out the items, GST and total.

  3. Step 3

    Split automatically

Equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, by shares, or dish by dish. Tax spreads itself proportionally.

  4. Step 4

    Settle over UPI

We work out the fewest payments that clear everyone, then hand you a UPI link or QR for each one.

Receipt scanning

Snap. Scan. Split.

Photograph the bill and we read the merchant, the date, every line item, CGST and SGST, the service charge and the round-off. Then you assign dishes to people and the tax spreads itself in proportion to what each person actually ate.

  • Reads โ‚น, Rs and INR, and Indian lakh grouping like โ‚น1,25,000
  • Understands CGST, SGST, IGST and service charge as separate lines
  • Every field stays editable โ€” nothing is saved until you confirm it

Get paid back without the awkward reminder

We do not just tell you that Rahul owes โ‚น850. We tell you Rahul owes Priya โ‚น850, and hand Rahul a UPI link that opens straight into Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm with the amount already filled in.

A settlement is only marked as paid when the person receiving the money confirms it, or when a payment provider confirms it with a verified signature. Opening a UPI link is never treated as proof that money moved.

Multi-currency

Pay in baht. Think in rupees.

When you do travel, add the expense in whatever you actually paid in. We keep the original amount exactly as it was, store the exchange rate used, and show the rupee equivalent alongside. Balances settle in one currency, so nobody does mental maths at a hotel desk.

Every converted amount carries the rate and the time it was fetched, so you can always see how a number was arrived at.

Four payments become two

When everyone has paid for something, the web of who-owes-whom gets messy fast. We net it down to the fewest payments that clear every balance.

Before

12 payments
  • Everyone owes Aarav a share ofโ‚น8,000
  • Everyone owes Bhavna a share ofโ‚น2,400
  • Everyone owes Chirag a share ofโ‚น1,200
  • Everyone owes Divya a share ofโ‚น400

Settled naively, that is up to 12 separate transfers between four people.

After

3 payments
  • DivyaAaravโ‚น2,600
  • ChiragAaravโ‚น1,800
  • BhavnaAaravโ‚น600

Same outcome, everyone square, 9 fewer transfers.

Hey Rahul! You owe โ‚น485 for Saturday's dinner.

WhatsApp sharing

Where your group already lives

Invites, payment requests, gentle reminders and the final summary all share straight to WhatsApp. The message contains only what the recipient is entitled to see, and the link still asks them to sign in.

Anything you split with anyone

Splitly is a bill splitter first. Trips are one of the things it is very good at.

  • Flatmates

Rent on the 1st, the electricity bill, the internet. Set them up once and they add themselves every month.

  • Dinner with friends

Photograph the bill, tap who ordered what, and the GST and service charge divide themselves.

  • Trips

Hotels, cabs and flights across a week and four people, in whatever currency you paid in.

  • Couples

The everyday running total, without either of you keeping a mental tally.

  • Events

A party, a wedding, an offsite. Lots of people, lots of receipts, one clean settlement.

  • Just you and one person

No group required. Split a single bill and keep a running balance with that one friend.

And when you do travel

A weekend in Goa or two weeks across Europe. Foreign currencies convert, rupee balances come out the other end.

  • Goa

    Beach shacks and shared villas

  • Manali

    Cabs, cafes and trek permits

  • Jaipur

    Forts, fuel and street food

  • Kashmir

    Houseboats split four ways

  • Mumbai

    Weekend trips and big dinners

  • Thailand

    THB spends, INR balances

  • Dubai

    AED cards and cash mixed

  • Bali

    IDR villas, sorted per person

What people would say

Placeholder copy

Splitly is pre-launch, so these are illustrative examples written by us, not real customer quotes. They will be replaced with genuine, attributed reviews before launch.

  • Three of us in a flat. Rent, power and internet just appear every month and we settle once.

    Example: flatmates, Pune

  • Splitting a restaurant bill by dish instead of dividing by four is the whole reason we use it.

    Example: friends, Bengaluru

  • Paid for the whole table on my card and had everyone's share back over UPI before we left.

    Example: friends, Mumbai

Questions people ask

Is Splitly free?

Yes. Creating groups, adding expenses, scanning receipts, splitting bills and settling up are all free while we are building the product. If we ever add a paid tier, the core splitting and settling will stay free.

Do I need to download an app?

No. It runs in your browser and installs to your home screen if you want it there. On Android and iPhone you can add it from the browser menu and it opens like an app.

Can I use Splitly without creating an account?

You can start without one. Create a group, add expenses, scan a receipt and see who owes what with no signup at all. That group lives in the browser you made it in and expires after a week, so create an account when you want to keep it, use it on your phone, or share it properly with the others.

Can I split bills by item?

Yes, and it is one of the main reasons to use it. Assign each dish to whoever ate it, and the tax and service charge are shared in proportion to what each person ordered. You can also allocate them equally if the group prefers.

Can I use UPI?

Yes. When someone owes you, they get a UPI deep link and a QR with the amount already filled in, which opens in Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or any UPI app. A settlement is only marked paid when the person receiving the money confirms it, or when a payment provider confirms it with a verified signature.

Can I track foreign currencies?

Yes. Enter an expense in THB, AED, USD or any other supported currency. We keep the original amount exactly as it was paid, record the exchange rate used, and show the rupee equivalent. Balances settle in the group currency.

Can I scan receipts?

Yes. Photograph a bill and we extract the merchant, date, line items, CGST and SGST, service charge and total. Every field is editable and nothing is saved until you confirm it.

Can I use it outside India?

Yes. The interface is rupee-first because that is who we build for, but a group can use any supported currency, and expenses abroad work exactly the same way. UPI settlement is India-only, so for foreign settlements you record the payment manually.

Can I invite friends through WhatsApp?

Yes. Every invite generates a private link you can send on WhatsApp in one tap. Links expire, can be limited to a single use, and can be revoked at any time.

Can I export my expenses?

Yes. Any group can be exported as CSV or JSON, including every expense, each person's share, the exchange rates used, all settlements and the outstanding balances.

Can I use it for rent and bills every month?

Yes. Set up a recurring expense once and it adds itself on the day it is due, split however you chose. Rent on the 1st, the internet bill on the 8th. You can pause or remove a rule at any time, and past expenses are left alone.

Can I split with just one person, without a group?

Yes. A one-to-one split needs no group, and you get a running balance with that person that nets across everything else you share. If you owe them from a dinner and they owe you from a flat, those cancel out.

How does debt simplification work?

We add up what each person paid and what they owe, then work out the smallest set of payments that clears everyone. If you paid for the hotel and someone else paid for dinner, those cancel out rather than becoming two separate transfers.

Your next shared bill just got easier

Set up a group in a minute, share the link on WhatsApp, and start adding expenses.
