These terms describe what Splitly does, what it does not do, and what we each expect of the other.
What the service is
Splitly is a record-keeping and calculation tool for shared expenses. It helps a group track who paid for what and work out who owes whom.
It is not a bank, a payment system operator, a wallet or a money transfer service. We do not hold, receive or move your money at any point.
Payments and settlements
- Payments happen entirely between you and the other person, through your own UPI app, bank, or in cash. We generate a link or QR code as a convenience.
- Marking a settlement as paid is a record made by users. Where no payment provider is configured, we have no independent way to verify that a transfer occurred, and we do not claim to.
- The balances we calculate are our best arithmetic on the data entered. If someone enters an expense incorrectly, the resulting balance will be incorrect. Check the numbers before you pay.
- We are not a party to any debt between members of a group and cannot recover money on anyone's behalf.
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself and use a unique one.
- You are responsible for what happens through your account, including expenses added and invites shared.
- You must be old enough to enter into a contract under Indian law.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload content you do not have the right to share, or that is unlawful;
- use the service to defraud anyone, including fabricating expenses or settlements;
- attempt to access groups, receipts or accounts that are not yours;
- automate access in a way that degrades the service for others, or work around rate limits.
We may suspend an account that does any of these.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Export anything you would be upset to lose.
Changes
We will post material changes to these terms on this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
